 1 st meeting of the project   

Nature and its role in our Cultural Heritage

We started our educational journey of discovery with an exploration of our natural heritage - how natural environment influence our lives, traditional life style of the inhabitants of our regions, their traditions, cuisine, crafts.
Students of all partner schools did a research about how herbs and other naturally occurring products were used and continue to be used in our daily lives.
Students learned about a variety and biodiversity of partner regions and countries, compared the biodiversity and also found out how people in the past and nowadays cared/care for the natural environment which provided/ provides environment for their everyday life.                      To  watch the presentations of our students click on the links below the text.

1st day - Presentations and group discussions about regions, towns and schools of the 6 countries. Traditional Cypriot Buffet at school. Participants also had an introductory lesson of Greek language conducted by the students of the host school. Teachers' meeting – discussion over the schedule of the 1 st year of the project, results of the pre –questionnaire, main outputs of the project. International Welcoming party at the host school hall for host and partner students, teachers, host families – traditional dishes and snacks from all participating schools, traditional music/ dance performances.

2nd day - Excursion  to Kelokedara village, Xeros and Sindi monastery. Guided tour - the traditional way of living in Cyprus, olive and karob mill with traditional products made of olives and carob, donkey riding, a guided tour in Sindi monastery, local Cyprian cuisine and dance performances and a workshop - Hallumi and olive bread making, a workshop of the  traditional Cypriot Sirtaki dance. Spectacular tour of the Aphrodite’s  Rock.  

3rd day -    Student art  workshop - presentation of the logo designs and voting. Volunteering - sand beach cleaning. Guided city tour around historical sites conducted by the students Petros and Marina. Traditional cuisine tasting in a  tavern Avli tou vasilea – garden of the king - with traditional music. 

4 th day - Excursion to Troodos mountains – opportunity to witness traditional building and mining methods which exploited the gifts of the nature as well as the flora and fauna of this mountainous area of Cyprus in  Troodos Botanical Garden (Amiantos) and Troodos Geopark – educational visits, film demonstrations, afternoon in a village of Platres -  Lambouri Winery Kato Platres.

5th day - Students were  integrated in the normal host school classes. Art workshop - drawing on a canvass – exchange experiences.
