Unraveling our intangible heritage hidden through crafts, folklore and architecture

25 - 29 March 2019, Namestovo, Slovakia

During the mobility students taught their peers about unique traditional crafts of their regions (country) and during the CLIL lesson in English together they were looking for similarities (Are there any crafts with similar materials, similar usage of crafted products, similar way people used to produce them ?). Students also tried out to work with traditional materials in craft workshops : wax, wood, willow twigs, flour, painted eggs etc.

All participants enjoyed European evening in the Slovak school with folk dances - songs - in traditional costumes and folklore music from the host country performed by the students and teachers of the host school, regional cuisine with local or regional traditional dishes. 

Host students also showed and taught traditional dances of their regions.

Participating students as well as teachers went on an excursion to the Orava castle expositions of regional culture, nature and history and the wooden church in Tvrdošín - European cultural heritage site and visited a part of the  Demanova cave system.

They also took part in an educational visit to the traditional craftsman' workshop - producing pottery and wooden shingles and voluntary activity in the open air museum of traditional architecture - helping with preservation and maintenance work.

There they were were observing live music performance and tried out traditional slovak "HAT" dance .
